Ernst Müller, born and raised in the Vinschgau Valley, draws his artistic inspiration from deep -rooted childhood memories. The self-taught artist and trained coachbuilder began painting at the age of thirteen and over the decades has developed into an important chronicler of the South Tyrolean cultural and natural landscape.
Influenced by the close observation of classical models such as Albin Egger Lienz, Toulouse-Lautrec and Claude Monet, Müller initially created scenes from everyday rural life, later mainly quaint farmhouses and picturesque landscapes, which are now considered his trademark. The longing and homesickness that have accompanied the artist since his childhood are omnipresent in his oil paintings. He captures the magic of the South Tyrolean mountains in vibrant colors and impasto textures that transport viewers to a bygone world.
